TRAINING:  There are now only two  required trainings for leaders:  Girl Scout FUNdamentals (formerly known as Orientation To The Organization) and Age-Level.   It is easier than ever to complete required leader training. The traditional three hour classes are still available as well as an on-line self directed course and home study packet.  Click here  for training information. Below is  info from Christina Mullis, Field Team Manager at council regarding levels.

Hello Ladies,

We have received correspondence here at the Girl Scout Center from troop leaders that are unsure or have questions about the current grade levels. We need your help spreading the word to leaders that Girl Scouts of Western Ohio is following GSUSA’s new grade level distinctions and that they need to be followed when registering new or returning troops.

 Girl Scout Daisies:                              Grades K-1

Girl Scout Brownies:                           Grades 2-3

Girl Scout Juniors:                               Grades 4-5

Girl Scout Cadettes:                            Grades 6-8

Girl Scout Seniors:                              Grades 9-10

Girl Scout Ambassadors:                 Grades 11-12

Also,  PLEASE NOTE: Effective immediately, the date for troop bridging is now June 1st. As a result, if your troop is bridging to a new grade level, the leader and co-leader will be required to take the appropriate Grade Level Leadership Essentials training within six months following the June 1st deadline. Please update your Volunteer Resource Guide accordingly.

The two required trainings are:
1. Girl Scout Fundamentals (Orientation to Girl Scouts of Western Ohio)
2. Appropriate Job Training or Grade Level Leadership Essentials – If you are a Girl Scout troop leader, you will need to complete the appropriate grade level training  (everything you need to know to effectively facilitate the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.) If you are a service team volunteer, product sale volunteer, etc. you will need to complete the appropriate job training for your volunteer role.

If you or any of the leaders have questions about the grade levels or trainings please let me or a member of my team know.
